 On August 16th Proviso West will begin to commemorate its 50th anniversary, celebrating the lives and accomplishments of Proviso West founders, faculty, and students who have come and gone.
The celebration kicks off on Aug 16th 2008 at the Proviso West Parking Lot and Stadium at 11:00 a.m. Alumni participation ranges from the class of 1961 to the graduates of 2008.
"It is so exciting to commemorate 50 years of excellence and 50 years of dedication to helping students achieve their dreams," said Alexis Wallace Principal of Proviso West. "To the principals who came before me and the students who came before them this is truly a revival of our Panther spirit and Proviso community spirit. We hope to engage the faculty and staff who have worked diligently over the past 50 years, and most importantly, the students and community who we have had the pleasure of serving. We want to show that Panther spirit is alive and well. This will be a great time for the whole family to enjoy."
The kick off will be followed by a host of events and fundraisers lasting throughout the school year. The fundraisers are designed to support a list of projects and repairs for the Proviso West school building.
All activities will culminate in a 50th Anniversary Banquet on May 23, 2009.
