Atten-Hut! Proviso West NJROTC to Conduct Orientation for New Cadets
Proviso West NJROTC, one of the sharpest, most distinct, and honorable NJROTC units in the mid-west, will host orientation for incoming freshmen Aug 3 to Aug 7, 2009 (8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.).
Proviso West NJROTC is one of the most unique programs offered to high school students with a curriculum designed to instill in students the value of citizenship, service, personal responsibility, integrity, and a sense of accomplishment and leadership.
“The focus of the NJROTC program is to help Cadets become better students and citizens,” said NJROTC instructor and Navy Commander Gerard Egler. “One of our primary goals is to prepare Cadets for college. When students participate in NJROTC it can improve their eligibility for college ROTC scholarships and service academy nominations.”
NJROTC is directed by Commander Egler, Master Chief Ingram, Chief Whitten, and Gunnery Sergeant Collins. Senior Cadets who have shown leadership ability will also assist in instructing incoming Cadets.
During orientation, students will learn the basics of military drill, classroom expectations, behavior, and courtesy. Students will also be sized for their uniforms.
NJROTC is a prestigious student organization that encourages teamwork, discipline, and leadership. If you have any questions about NJROTC or the orientation program please call us at 708-202-6282 or 6283.
