Congratulations to Proviso West Senior Khristian Willis who was selected as West 40’s School Citizen of the Year.
Willis serves as Proviso West’s student council president. He is a member of the Key Club, Youth Alive, the Student Advisory Board, and the NJROTC Drill Team. Willis said he works to bring innovative ideas to Proviso West through his leadership and extracurricular activities which helped set him apart as this year’s SCOTY Award winner.
“This is a great honor,” said Willis. “I’m really humbled by this award. I am also extremely honored that someone would recommend me as School Citizen of the Year. I just try to be an overall good student. I have been able to bring lots of new ideas to my school through the student council. NJROTC has also really helped me foster my leadership skills.”
Willis was nominated for School Citizen of the Year by Proviso West Principal Alexis Wallace.
“Khristian is one of the most mature, thoughtful, and intelligent students I’ve ever had an opportunity to work with,” said Wallace. “I am extremely proud that he will represent Proviso West as West 40’s Student Citizen of the Year.”
The School Citizen of the Year award was created in celebration of West 40’s eleventh anniversary to honor exemplary students within the West 40 region. Willis will receive a medal, certificate, and a copy of the School Citizen of the Year Honor Roll Book. Entries in the honor roll book include the nominating teachers’ and principals’ names, and a brief description of why each student was selected.
Congratulations Khristian! You are a vital part of Proviso Rising.
